UX & Marketing Internship at HUROTICS

This past summer 2023, I had the opportunity to work on the HUROTICS PM team, where I played a pivotal role in driving product success through a multifaceted approach – including formulating an effective early-stage marketing strategy, active participation in crucial meetings with external companies, leading UX design efforts, and conceptualizing a winning video production strategy for the CES 2024 Innovation Awards.

About the company

Hurotics was founded in 2022 and is a specialized company in developing customized walking rehabilitation exoskeleton suits, considering patient injuries and physical characteristics. Hurotics possess specialized equipment for biomechanical analysis and are experts in conducting clinical trials for robotics.

As a solo UX Designer

Application Design: H-Flex - Personalized Assistive Wearable Robot

PROBLEM

In healthcare, the demand for wearable assistive robots has grown significantly. However, existing standardized robotic devices often fall short of addressing the diverse needs of users across various scenarios. HUROTICS, therefore, conceived the innovative idea of synchronizing a personalized support robot called 'H-Flex' with an application. 

I collaborated with engineers and apparel designers, contributing to the development of the following products✨

About H-FLEX

H-Flex empowers users to craft their very own wearable robot, perfectly aligned with their lifestyle. By selecting the desired quantity of the all-in-one modular driving unit and attaching it to their preferred smart wearable equipment location, users unlock a new level of personalization. What sets H-Flex apart is its integration of Edge AI technology, which swiftly analyzes the user's specific assistive needs, movements, and body information. Within just two minutes, it delivers tailored assistance force and patterns, revolutionizing the way users experience support. Most importantly, a dedicated IoT application is at the user’s fingertips to control and monitor H-Flex's modularized all-in-one driving units.

The Main Page

The default mode is Power mode (BLUE)

Pressing the power button activates H-Flex, causing the circular bar to rotate while simultaneously changing the background and power button color.

This visually confirms activation and assures the user of the device's proper functionality.

Changes to

The power buttons, designed to resemble remote controls, reflect user stereotypes.

An interface that provides information on the device's connection status to the phone and displays the current battery level

An engaging user interface compiles usage data from the previous day.

A feature enabling the user to customize additional settings for areas of discomfort and where they seek further assistance today.

It's a modular suit with a built-in issue-checking feature. Problems are highlighted in red, while no issues are shown in blue. For example, if there's a problem with 'Elec,' hovering over the exclamation mark triggers a helpful popup with guidance on next steps, such as contacting support or making adjustments.

Personalizing my suit

Exercise Mode (RED)

Transitioning to Exercise mode involves a change to the color red, symbolizing energy and strength. Exercise mode provides robust movement support, particularly designed for hospital rehabilitation therapy.

Eco Mode (GREEN)

Switching to Eco mode, the color changes to green. Eco mode serves as a lightweight supplementary mode designed for daily-life rehabilitation and mobility assistance.

CES 2024 Innovation Awards Program 

The CES Innovation Awards program is an annual competition honouring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products. The program recognizes honorees in a multitude of consumer technology product categories and distinguishes the highest rated in each.
